Mark Ivanir: Yiddish in Hollywood

Mark Ivanir is an Israeli-American film actor who has starred in a long list of Hollywood movies, including Schindler’s List, The Terminal, The Good Shepherd, A Late Quartet, 7 Days in Entebbe, The Red Sea Diving Resort, and more. Over the course of his career, he has received numerous awards for his performances.

Mark Ivanir is the grandson of the Yiddish writer Meshulem Surkis. He grew up in a multilingual household and incorporates Yiddish into some of his film roles.
